In 6th grade, my science teacher gave us a homework assignment. All we had to do was write directions to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Easy, right? Well, everyone who did it wrong ended up with their name written on the board, and my enneagram 9-ness never forgot the humiliation.
The catch was that it had to be written for someone who knew nothing about making a PB&J. Like, couldn’t even be bothered to walk to the cupboard to select something from the pantry because they didn’t know what Peanut Butter was. I know. BUT, despite my embarrassment at having failed miserably, I will never send out incomplete directions on how to do anything ever again.
